France star Pogba to miss World Cup with knee injury

Torino, Oct. 31 (BNA): French midfielder Paul Pogba will miss the World Cup due to persistent knee problems. Pogba only returned to training with Juventus this month after having surgery on his right knee in early September.

He has not played since returning to Juventus from Manchester United, and has been injured again. Tests in Turin and Pittsburgh have confirmed that the 29-year-old Pogba will not be fit in time for the World Cup.

“We won’t see him until 2023, and his entourage has confirmed that he will also miss the World Cup,” a Juventus spokesman said. His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, also issued a statement.

“Following the medical examinations yesterday and today, it is extremely distressing to announce that Paul Pogba needs further rehabilitation after surgery,” she said.

Pogba underwent surgery after he ruptured his meniscus during Juventus’ pre-season tour of the United States in July after returning to the Italian club two weeks before from Manchester United amid much fanfare.
