Formula One agrees to stage Chinese Grand Prix through to 2025

London, November 6 (BUS): The Chinese Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2025 after a new deal is announced.

The race in Shanghai has been absent from the schedule for the past two years, and will not form part of next season’s record 23-round calendar either following coronavirus restrictions.

But the match, which was first introduced in 2004, is still in the sport’s long-term plans, according to the international dpa news agency.

Commenting on the contract extension, Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1: “This is great news for all our fans in China and we are delighted to announce this agreement that will see us racing in Shanghai until 2025.

“While we are all disappointed that we were unable to include China in the 2022 calendar due to ongoing epidemic conditions, China will be put back on the calendar as soon as conditions allow and we look forward to getting back with the masses as quickly as possible.”
