Foreign Ministry participates in Second Arab Forum on Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation

Manama, May 3 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Strategic Affairs Sector, headed by Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, participated in the Second Arab Forum for Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, which was held in Doha and was organized. By the Qatar National Committee for the Prohibition of Arms and the League of Arab States.

Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting disarmament and non-proliferation efforts. She stressed Bahrain’s consistent policy of enhancing cooperation in this field and compliance with international agreements. She also pointed out the importance of cooperation and exchange of knowledge and information to enhance experiences in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the Middle East initiative free of weapons of mass destruction, in implementation of the decision of the Conference to Review the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. It also praised the regional and international efforts to enhance cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency on the nuclear issue.

With regard to the growing international demand for ample legislation to combat the financing of armaments and terrorism, Ambassador Nancy Jamal called for a regional dialogue to ensure compliance with international obligations and maintain peace and security.
