Manama, April 13 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani praised the virtues of the Bahraini thinker and former Minister Youssef Ahmed Al-Shirawi, praising his dedication to serving the country and citizens. He held ministerial and executive positions in the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, including Minister of Development and Industry and Minister of Cabinet Affairs. He also praised the distinguished contributions of the late minister and his diverse skills in the fields of politics, economy, culture, literature and astronomy.
This came during the Foreign Minister’s speech during his meeting today, Sirin Youssef Ahmed Al-Shirawi and Rania Youssef Ahmed Al-Shirawi, on the occasion of honoring the late thinker and Minister Youssef Ahmed Al-Shirawi by the President of the Arab Thought Forum, His Royal Highness Prince El-Hassan bin Talal, in appreciation of his great contributions to the establishment of the forum forty years ago. And his support for his goals in consolidating dialogue and the relationship between thought, citizenship, civil society and decision-making. The minister expressed Bahrain’s pride in the political and intellectual efforts of Youssef Al-Shirawi and his outstanding achievements as one of the pioneers of Gulf and Arab cultural development and renaissance.
For their part, the daughters of Youssef Al-Shirawi, Sirin and Rania, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of all family members thanked him for his welcome and praise, expressing their deep appreciation and gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal. And for those in charge of the forum to honor their father. They emphasized that their late father, despite his political and economic preoccupations, was multi-talented in many different fields such as thought, literature and culture, and was a scientist in astronomy, where he wrote a book entitled “The Shirawi Calendar”.
