Foreign Minister chairs committee meeting

Manama, December 8 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani chaired the meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Human Rights, which was held today.

The meeting was also attended remotely by members of the Committee, the National Institute for Human Rights and a number of experts from civil society organizations.

Dr. Al-Zayani welcomed the committee members and participants, adding that Bahrain is moving forward steadily in the process of building and developing the national human rights system.

He extended his thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for providing the best human rights environment for citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. .

He praised the wise leadership’s approval of the ministry’s strategic plan, extending to 2030, and including the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).

Dr. Al-Zayani expressed his thanks to the appointed Bahraini ambassador to Belgium, the former vice-chairman of the committee, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al-Dosari for his efforts throughout his membership in the committee, wishing him success in his diplomatic duties. .

He also thanked the members of the Committee for their sincere efforts and expressed his appreciation for the contributions in enhancing the role and work of the Committee.

The committee discussed a number of topics on its agenda, including a brief presentation of the national human rights plan and the progress of work in preparing the plan.

The committee also discussed the dates for discussing a number of national reports submitted to treaty committees, in addition to referring to the International Human Rights Day.
