Foreign Minister addresses Hungarian Diplomatic Academy

Budapest, Feb. 1 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is on a path that derives its principles from the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to spread peace and harmony throughout the world, and to promote the values ​​of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and civilized dialogue. between nations.

The minister said that Bahrain’s firm position is to renounce disputes, resolve disputes through diplomacy, and provide security and peace in all countries of the world.

In a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy in Budapest, which was attended by senior officials of the ministry, the head of the academy and its students, the minister indicated that spreading peace is one of the basic goals of foreign policy and diplomatic efforts of any country, and a prerequisite for stability, development and prosperity.

He said that Bahrain is fortunate and proud that peace is one of its most important core values, and it is strengthened through generations by interaction, coexistence and mutual respect that stems from the country’s status as a regional trade hub.

He added that Bahrain is a truly multi-ethnic, multi-religious and sectarian country, in which we all learned to coexist and live in peace while helping each other grow and prosper.

Al-Zayani referred to the recent visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Bahrain, describing it as “a crossroads of mutual enrichment between peoples,” while His Majesty King Hamad stressed the centrality of peaceful dialogue in preventing and resolving conflicts and in building understanding among peoples. countries, religions and peoples.

He said that the values ​​of peace and peaceful dialogue still support our Bahraini diplomacy, whether in specific policies such as signing the historic declaration in support of peace with Israel, or through the work of institutions such as the King Hamad Center for Peaceful Coexistence. In bringing together different religions and cultures, and emphasizing the importance of our common humanity.

Bahrain constantly calls for peace as a strategic choice in foreign policy, as an end in itself, but also as a guiding principle, and this is what the Kingdom does in its interactions with its neighbors, with the region, and with the entire international community. His Excellency added that the Middle East can transcend its long history of conflict and foreign interference, to become a source of security and stability, and achieve the potentials and aspirations of the region and all its peoples.

Al-Zayani pointed out that the people of Bahrain are another pillar of Bahrain’s foreign policy.

He pointed out that Bahrain’s geographical area is limited, and it has always originated in small adjacent neighborhoods, sharing common spaces and markets, and forming cohesive communities and families.

This history forms the basis of Bahrain’s civilization, hospitality and openness to others. It also gave Bahrain a deep understanding of the centrality of people to any nation or society.

He added that people are the focus of the Kingdom’s internal and external policies, and made it clear that Bahrain locally is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of its people in the most comprehensive, effective and transparent manner.

Al-Zayani indicated that Bahrain is working at the international level to support and strengthen the international system based on the rules, principles and mechanisms of human rights enshrined in international law and institutions.

Bahrain also promotes human-centered policies and principles on the global stage, for example in relation to disaster relief, meeting the humanitarian needs of those affected by conflict, poverty or disease, and working with others as Bahrain builds international capacities to achieve sustainable development. The Minister expressed his appreciation for the attention paid by the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy to the training of diplomats and welcomed the cooperation in the development of diplomatic training.
