First Deputy Speaker urges parliamentary support for HM King’s efforts to promote human coexistence, fraternity

Rabat, June 8 (BNA): First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Representative Abdulnabi Salman, stressed the importance of parliamentary support for the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote coexistence and brotherhood among people, recalling the invitation addressed to him. His Majesty the King approved an international agreement to criminalize religious, sectarian and racist hate speech in all its forms during the opening ceremony of the 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which Bahrain hosted in March this year.

This invitation adds to the pioneering initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad and the steps that reflect the sound royal approach that stresses the importance of believing in the culture of difference and respect for others.

The remarks of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives came while he was chairing the coordination meeting of the Kingdom’s parliamentary delegation at the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue: “We work together for our common future,” which will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, from June 13 to 15.

Abd al-Nabi Salman highlighted the role of the Kingdom’s parliamentary diplomacy in raising awareness and encouraging cooperation and exchange of experiences between parliaments to urge governments to develop and implement more effective measures to promote the principles of peace and acceptance of the other.

He praised the efforts of the Kingdom’s parliamentary delegation to enhance cooperation with parliamentary unions, especially the Inter-Parliamentary Union, calling for continuing to raise the Kingdom’s flags in international forums.
