Financial and commercial specialized judges swear oath to adjudicate disputes in English

Manama, March 2 (BNA): Following the recent amendment of the Bahraini Judicial Authority Law, nine judges took the legal oath to enable the conduct of the National Court procedures in English.

Internationally recognized judges specialize in financial and commercial disputes.

This pioneering initiative promotes the adjudication of disputes before national courts that relate to diverse areas of national and international contractual relations such as trade, corporate work, banking and financial institutions as well as trademarks, intellectual property rights, marine and aviation, as well as construction.

With the appointment of these internationally renowned judges, access to justice is amplified by conducting litigation in English in line with the language of transactions.

This will mitigate translation challenges, as well as reduce litigation costs, and increase the speed of dispute resolution while ensuring that judgments are delivered in accordance with international best practices.

These financial and commercial disputes will be adjudicated in English if the parties agree and the contract relating to the dispute is not in Arabic.

The appointed judges have internationally recognized legal expertise in the field of financial, commercial and investment dispute resolution.

This contributes to strengthening Bahrain’s position as a financial center with the best human resources and a business-friendly environment that enables sustainable growth and prosperity.
