Finance Minister meets nominee for World Bank Group president

Washington, April 14 (BNA): Minister of Finance and National Economy Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said that the Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to strengthening cooperation with the World Bank Group, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development.

The minister referred to the pivotal role of the World Bank in mitigating international challenges and repercussions and supporting global growth momentum.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy made these remarks while meeting with the nominee for the post of President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga.

Finance ministers and central bank governors from Arab countries and the Maldives group also attended the meeting.

The session was held on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.

The meeting focused on the aspirations and priorities of the World Bank Group and its pivotal role in the coming period to achieve development goals.

The importance of partnership with the private sector, as a driving force and active development partner, was also highlighted.
