Finance and National Economy Minister highlights cooperation with Turkey

Manama, March 31 (BNA) The Bahraini-Turkish Joint Committee held its seventh meeting today. The session was attended by the Minister of Finance and the National Committee, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance, Dr. Nureddin Al-Nabati, and businessmen.

The Turkish minister was briefed on Bahrain’s development steps and the role of the Economic Development Board in promoting the Kingdom in global markets and attracting foreign direct investment.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy praised the deep-rooted relations and the common interest in strengthening economic cooperation and enhancing trade exchanges, citing the signing of agreements to encourage and protect investments and avoid double taxation.

He said that the volume of trade exchange amounted to 600 million dollars annually, noting that Bahrain granted Turkey the status of “accredited partner” for the International Center for Sea and Air Freight Services in the Kingdom, which will enhance the economy, trade and investment. partnership between the two countries.

He highlighted the initiatives to support the economic recovery plan in the logistics sector, which is to increase trip destinations to more than 70 destinations, and raise air freight capacity, in addition to increasing the capacity at Sheikh Khalifa Port.

The CEO of the Economic Development Board, Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, welcomed the Turkish business delegation, stressing the role of the Council in supporting investors to set up their deals in Bahrain.

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to support joint cooperation with Turkey and to attract international investments and capitals for the benefit of various sectors.
