Dubai, September 23 (BNA): Emirates has become the first airline to implement the International Air Transport Association (IATA) travel card solution on six continents, launching this digital health card for customers in all its destinations.
After successful trials in April on select routes from its Dubai hub, Emirates gradually expanded its IATA Travel Pass pilot program for customers on 12 routes in June, and the airline has now signed a contract with IATA to implement the solution across its global network, according to Emirates. News Agency (WAM).
It is currently available to Emirates customers traveling from 50 cities, and rollout is expected to be completed across more than 120 Emirates destinations by October.
“Emirates continues to invest in technology and solutions, such as the IATA Travel Card, so that we can offer seamless flights and contactless experiences to our customers while enabling our airport teams to handle document verifications efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements. ‘, Emirates’ Chief of Operations Officer Adel Al Redha said.
The main features of the IATA travel card; Repository of the latest travel requirements: enables passengers to find accurate information on travel, testing and vaccine requirements for their flight; Test Center Registration: Passengers have access to approved COVID-19 Test Centers at their location of departure that meet the requirements of their destination.
It also includes digital documentation: the application allows passengers to digitally manage their travel documents. From receiving test results and vaccination certificates directly from accredited laboratories and testing centers, to conveniently and securely sharing these documents with authorities and airlines to facilitate travel.
Today travelers can access over 1,500 COVID-19 testing labs via the IATA Travel Pass app, and that number continues to grow.
