Election procedures for voters outside Bahrain issued

Manama, October 16 (BNA) The Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for General Election Monitoring, Nawaf bin Muhammad Al-Maawda, issued Resolution No. 133/2022 regarding the procedures for electing members of the House of Representatives to voters outside the Kingdom, which is scheduled to be held on November 8.


The resolution decided the following:

Article 1

Each embassy, ​​consulate and diplomatic mission of Bahrain abroad shall form a voting and counting committee to elect members of the House of Representatives. The committee is chaired by the ambassador, consul general, or head of the diplomatic mission, and is made up of officials from the embassy, ​​consulate, or diplomatic mission, one of whom serves as the committee’s general secretariat.


Article 2

Elections will be held at embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions on November 8.

In cases of necessary re-election, it will be held on November 15.


Voting will start from 8 am to 8 pm depending on the local time of the city in which it is located.

Voting and counting procedures:

voter identification is required; A passport or other official document that also certifies the constituency of the electorate.


The voter list must be marked manually, electronically, or by any other method approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for General Supervision of the Integrity of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, and it appears that the voter has cast his vote. .

After the votes are counted, a report is generated that includes the total number of votes cast, the total number of valid and invalid votes, the votes obtained by each candidate in each constituency, and the decisions of the committee. Ballot papers shall be placed in an airtight envelope, with the statements of each person casting a vote, and the counting report shall be signed by the committee chairperson and secretary.


The envelope and a copy of its contents shall be sent immediately to the Supreme Committee for General Supervision of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives by e-mail or fax.


Anyone who did not vote at the embassy, ​​consulate or diplomatic mission has the right to vote before the relevant committee in his constituency if they are in Bahrain on the day of the election.


Article 3

This decision shall be effective from the date of its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
