Education Minister praises school’s integrative scheme

Manama, June 18 (BNA): Five female students with autism were integrated into general education at Umm Kulthum Intermediate School for Girls during the academic year 2922-21.

The school allocated privacy to the five students under the supervision of three teachers who specialize in teaching students with special needs.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, paid a visit to the school, which became the first institution to include unified average female students in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi stressed the importance of integrating people with special needs who are able to learn in government schools, pointing to the positive results achieved at the level of different groups, including those who suffer from autism.

He said that integrating autism is one of the most successful educational initiatives covered in Bahrain, adding that the scheme has been expanded to include primary and intermediate levels.
