DERASAT, SCW to hold forum

Manama, June 8 (BNA): The Sixth Annual Derasat Forum will be held from June 14 to 15, under the slogan “Women’s Role in Policy Making, Think Tanks and Research,” in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women. ).

Representatives of research centers, authorities, international organizations, many experts and journalists from different countries will participate in the forum to discuss developments and dynamics related to the challenges and opportunities facing women in policy making and think tanks.

The list of speakers includes regional and global experts and policy makers, delegates from international organizations and global think tanks, researchers from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and women in senior executive positions in think tanks and government organizations, to discuss the best ways to develop and enhance the role of women in all fields. .

Participating organizations include UN-Habitat, the Atlantic Council, the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Directions for Research and Consultancy in Abu Dhabi, the World Health Organization, the Center for Women’s Studies and Research at Kuwait University, the National Council for Women in Egypt, and the United Nations. Bureau of Women in the Arab States, Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut, International Institute for Strategic Studies, King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, United Nations University for Peace in Geneva, and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

The forum will shed light on visions and points of view to increase women’s participation in scientific research, bridge the gender gap, and ensure a balance of gender equality in policy-making, think tanks, and research in various fields, by demonstrating the importance of specific scientific and scientific legislation. Professional initiatives for scientific and professional equality, and support for women with sufficient budgets to achieve their scientific progress in addition to their societal responsibilities, while applying the programs required to qualify women and men on an equal footing in all disciplines.

Furthermore, the Forum examines the impact of social dynamics on professional and educational trends, future directions of GCC research and policy on emerging issues of concern, and the importance of international collaboration in research and policy making. The forum will emphasize this cooperation between countries and organizations by discussing the role of experts, scholars and researchers in shaping comprehensive policies and mechanisms for effective cooperation.

Furthermore, the Forum will present the progress made and guarantees regarding women’s equal representation and fair opportunities, focusing on their perspectives in policy making, and providing examples of the impact of women’s participation on policy outcomes.
