Derasat, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung discuss further cooperation

Manama, March 30 (BNA) The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) received a delegation from the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) to discuss building on the long-term relations between the two research entities.

The KAS delegation met with Director of Communications and Knowledge Department Sheikha Nayla bint Ali Al Khalifa, Director of Opinion Polls and Surveys Ijlal Issa Bubshait, and representatives of the Research and Studies Department.

Discussions about areas of promising mutual research included increasing women’s contribution and representation in quality research.

The KAS delegation was headed by Dr. Gerhard Wallers, Deputy Secretary-General and Head of the European and International Cooperation Department.

It included Fabian Bloomberg, KAS representative in the Gulf states. Lucas Lamberti, Consultant in the Executive Office at KAS; and Dr. Mohamed Yaghi, Program Director and Research Fellow at the KAS Gulf Countries Program.

Sheikha Nayla said: “International cooperation between research organizations has increased in value in recent years, and studies continue to build on their partnerships with regional and global think tanks in their efforts to expand their network and offer value-added initiatives.”

“There are many macro and micro research issues, fueled by rapid global developments, increasingly aligning research objectives between Derasat and KAS, on which we look forward to collaborating.”

Dr. Wallers conveyed the KAS’s wishes for further cooperation on regional issues of mutual interest and global implications and welcomed the visit of the Center this year to its headquarters in Berlin.
