Deputy Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, Jan. 16 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet praised the House of Representatives’ unanimous approval of the government program 2023-2026 under the title “From Economic Recovery to Sustainable Growth,” stressing that close cooperation with the House of Representatives contributed to achieving consensus.

The Cabinet noted the commitment of the parliamentary committee charged with studying the government’s program, in cooperation with the government committee, to support continuous coordination between the executive and legislative authorities, in a way that benefits the country and citizens. The Cabinet also expressed its gratitude to the government committee for its participation in the meetings and for its efforts in this regard.

In implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Cabinet discussed the steps required to immediately start implementing the priorities, policies and initiatives included in the government program 2023-2026. This will be done through developing government projects and services provided to citizens, continuous follow-up of relevant work plans, and submitting periodic reports on the progress of work to the Council of Ministers.

After that, the Cabinet directed the concerned government agencies to follow up on the observations and recommendations contained in the National Audit Bureau Report 2021-2022, and to take the necessary measures to correct them.

The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to all ministries and government agencies that took the initiative to correct the observations contained in the previous report, and noted the role played by the Audit Bureau in enhancing governance to integrate effective practices.

The Cabinet highlighted the success of Bahrain International Airport in obtaining a 5-star regional classification certificate for distinguished airport services and facilities by Skytrax, for the second year in a row. The Cabinet stressed the importance of continuing to develop airport services and sustaining national achievements and developments.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memorandums with the following results:

Approval of the following memorandum:

1. A memorandum from the Civil Service Bureau regarding the restructuring of a number of ministries and government agencies to improve performance and efficiency.

The Council then reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the regulatory framework for the inter-regional registration of financial products among the financial market regulators in the GCC countries. The Cabinet also reviewed the memorandum of the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning regarding developments in the ministry’s housing priorities, developing partnerships with the private sector in housing projects and programmes, and adopting many initiatives to facilitate and diversify housing services provided to citizens. .

The Council also reviewed the memorandum submitted by the Minister of Tourism regarding the Kingdom’s tourism indicators for the period from December 2022 to January 2023, during which many events were held through commercial complexes and hotels.

Then the council reviewed the ministerial reports regarding the visit of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture to the United Arab Emirates, and the participation of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in the Hajj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition (Hajj Exhibition 2023).
