New York, Jan. 5 (U.S.): David Bowie’s extensive music catalog, spanning from the late 1960s to before his death in 2016, has been sold to Warner Chappell Music.
Over 400 songs, including “Space Oddity”, “Ziggy Stardust”, “Fame”, “Rebel Rebel” and “Let’s Dance” on 26 Bowie’s albums released during his lifetime, a posthumous studio album release, Toy, two studio albums from the Tin Machine are included, as well as tracks released as singles from the soundtrack and other projects.
Financial details of the sale have not been released. Warner Chapell is the music publishing suite of Warner Music Group Corp. Bruce Springsteen sold his catalog to Sony Music last month for $500 million. Others who have sold their catalogs in recent years, either in part or in whole, include Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Stevie Nicks, the AP reports.

David Bowie David Jones was born in London in 1947 and passed away in January 2016 after battling cancer for 18 months. As a performer, Bowie had an unexpected array of styles, blending European despondency with American rhythms and his ever-changing personalities and wardrobes. The lean and cultured Bowie brought an open and androgynous play to popular music that changed the meaning of being a rock star. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
Last year, Warner Music Group reached an agreement with The Bowie Company to grant Warner Music licensed worldwide rights to the Bowie music catalog recorded since 1968.
