Curry injures left leg leading Warriors over Mavs 119-113

San Francisco, Feb. 5 (U.S.): Stephen Curry went down and the Golden Warriors once again had to fight like crazy to close out a game.

Curry had 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds before spraining his left leg while on defense late in the third quarter. The defending NBA champions defeated Dallas 119-113 Saturday night and the undermanned Mavericks lost injured superstar Luka Doncic, Associated Press. mentioned.

Curry’s X-ray was negative, the Warriors said, and he will undergo an MRI test.

“Anytime anyone is going to have an MRI, there is definitely a level of anxiety,” said trainer Steve Kerr. “So we just have to wait and see the results.”

Draymond Green added 17 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while JaMychal Green scored 14 points and Jonathan Cuminga and Donte DiVincenzo 13 in another big performance off the bench that helped Golden State build a 40-23 lead after the first.

After that, the warriors finally had to hold out again.

“I think when we start working, we stop doing the things that work,” said Draymond Green. “When you have something that works throughout the game, you can’t get away from it.”

Spencer Dinwiddie had 25 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. had 22 and Dorian Feeney Smith had 18 as the Mavs won two straight and three of four. They’ve won their last three games against the Warriors and 10 of 12 overall in the series.

But Doncic accounts for 33.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game for Dallas. He bruised his right heel in the third quarter of a 111-106 home win against New Orleans on Thursday night. Coach Jason Kidd said Doncic will also miss Monday’s game in Utah and then he’ll see how the team progresses.

The Warriors struggled to finish the games and allowed the Mavericks to get a 116-111 lead on the Hardaway 3 with 1:28 left but managed to pull it off even with the 30th watch.

“I’m happy with the win, but I’m disappointed with the way we finished, so we have to do better,” Kerr said.

Dinwiddie moved into Doncic’s starting lineup and shot 9-for-17, receiving a technical at the 6:10 mark of the first quarter after an offensive foul against him.

Draymond Green and Klay Thompson both started for the defending champions after entering the game listed as questionable; Green with right calf tightness and non-COVID Thompson disease. Thompson scored 14 points.

Dallas embarked on a second five-game road trip in about a month. It was the Mavs’ first visit to the Chase Center since the Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals with a win in Game 5 in the Western Conference Finals.

Golden State made 5 of their first 8 shots to jump ahead 11-2 and force a timeout of 2:36 into the game.

Dallas won the first meeting of the season 116-113 in November.

KUMINGA’S ADVANTAGE

Second-year forward Cuminga reached the 1,000-point milestone and at 20 years, 121 days, became the youngest Warriors player in franchise history to achieve the feat.

“He’s a special talent,” said Draymond Green.
