Barcelona, Dec. 29 (BNA): Eleven players from the Barcelona and Real Madrid teams were quarantined Wednesday after contracting the Corona virus, before the resumption of the Spanish League this weekend, the Associated Press reported.
The team announced Wednesday that Barcelona players Osman Dembele, Samuel Umtiti and Gavi had contracted the Corona virus, after it was announced that Jordi Alba, Alejandro Balde, Clement Lenglet and Dani Alves were infected earlier this week.
It is another setback for Barcelona when it plays Sunday’s match against Mallorca in seventh place, with the team also suffering injuries. “The players are in good health and are self-isolating at home,” Barcelona said.
Real Madrid, who leads the league by eight points, said on Wednesday that Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Junior had tested positive for Covid-19 before Sunday’s match against Getafe.
