Consensus on Government Action Programme reached

Manama, Jan. 9 (BNA): It was agreed today between the executive and legislative authorities to introduce amendments to the government’s action plan.


This consensus was reached during the fourth joint meeting held between the Government Program Study Committee and the government team.


The session was chaired by Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.


The meeting was also attended by His Excellency the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Labor, Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, the Minister of Parliament, Ghanim bin Fadl Al-Buainain, the Minister of Legal Affairs, Yusuf bin Abdul Hussein Khalaf, and the Minister of Cabinet Affairs. Hamad bin Faisal Al-Maliki and the Minister of Information, Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi.


The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the First Deputy, also attended. Abdul Nabi Salman and members of the government program study committee.


The two sides agreed to give the first priority within the program to become under the title “Raising the standard of living for citizens in order to preserve the gains of citizens.”


They also reached a consensus on adding a new initiative to the program that states “development of social assistance provided to citizens, including inflation allowance,” and “adopting policies that raise the standard of living in a way that preserves the purchasing power of retired citizens.”


The Speaker of Parliament praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for joint national action and the efforts made to implement economic recovery plans and the fiscal balance program.

He also expressed his thanks to the government team headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for their keenness to achieve the desired goals, in line with the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa also stressed the importance of continuing joint work with the Council of Representatives to serve the aspirations of citizens and achieve the development goals led by His Majesty the King.


The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Hamad bin Faisal Al-Maliki, made a presentation in which he clarified the government’s position on the amendments submitted by the Government Programs Study Committee.


The amended program consists of four priorities: raising the standard of living for citizens, justice, security and stability, economic recovery and sustainable development, and government service with quality and competitiveness.
