Climate Special Envoy meets IAEA Deputy Director General

Vienna, September 26 (BNA) Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dina met with the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and CEO of the Supreme Council for the Environment, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Hua Liu and the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Technical Cooperation Department, on the sidelines of its participation in the 65th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Dr. Bin Dina praised the fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Technical Cooperation Department of the International Atomic Energy Agency, praising the agency’s efforts to coordinate with the Kingdom in launching a package of technical projects during this year in several areas, including addressing climate change issues in the field of energy, health and environmental preservation, which represent The main role that the International Atomic Energy Agency plays in promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the region.

The Special Envoy said that Bahrain’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the Technical Cooperation Department comes in line with the Kingdom’s economic vision 2030 and sustainable development goals, stressing the need to push these relations towards broader horizons, which contributes to supporting the use of nuclear sciences. Technology to meet key priorities in sustainable development.

The Deputy Director-General affirmed the IAEA’s pride in the extent of relations and cooperation with Bahrain, which contributes to securing a zone free of nuclear weapons and mass destruction, noting its development at all levels, wishing the Kingdom further progress.
