Manama, July 20 (BNA) The Director General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Sciences, Brigadier Abdulaziz Al-Rumaihi, praised Bahrain’s success in maintaining its first position in the fight against human trafficking, according to a US State Department report. department for the fifth year in a row.
He said that the achievement comes within the framework of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote equality and human rights without discrimination. He also praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He also praised the efforts of all parties, including the Ministry of Interior, in promoting the values of human rights and the policies and directives of the Ministry of Interior.
He congratulated the wise leadership and His Excellency the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for his guidance and support. He praised the follow-up of the Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al-Hassan, in strengthening community partnership and belonging to the homeland.
The Director-General said that the Directorate of Combating Human Trafficking is dedicated to integrating human trafficking through cooperation with relevant authorities in Bahrain and international organizations.
He said the directorate has been fighting human trafficking for 15 years. Statistics revealed that from January 2 to June 30, it investigated 25 cases involving 41 suspects and women. The directorate provided psychological and judicial support to 164 victims, while legal measures were taken against 4 tourist facilities and facilities that were closed by judicial orders. In 2021, he said, there were 29 human trafficking cases involving 73 suspects and 105 victims. Legal measures were taken against two tourism establishments.
He also highlighted the directorate’s awareness role, including campaigns and various events such as exhibitions and virtual security seminars. The directorate also launched a hotline 555 to receive cases of human trafficking.
