Chanel goes understated in final day of Paris Fashion Week

Paris, October 4 (US): An impressive group of VIP guests awaited the Chanel show on the last day of Paris Fashion Week.

Kristen Stewart and Diane Kruger were among those arriving at the Grand Palais Ephemere for one of the day’s biggest events, while some looked forward to Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton later on the program, AP reports.

Here are some of the highlights from the Spring/Summer 2023 collections:

For spring, Parisian designer Virginie Viard gently relived the ’80s in a simple all-over dipped in black and white that seemed like she had nothing to prove.

There was some slight excitement.

Moments like the polka dot leather dress with the rugged corrugated peplum offered the historical reflection of the old house founded in 1910, borrowing from the styles of the (last) century.

But it was all very subtly presented by the French designer, who took over from the prolific Karl Lagerfeld after his death in 2019.

The beating heart of this show was an understatement. Black-and-white images of the decor spanning the ages, including empty historic gardens, may not have helped lift the mood — but the collection of 71 looks felt a lack of energy at times.

However, the accessories provided welcome shots of liveliness. Bejeweled clasps, pearl and gem drop pendants and cascading gold necklaces give the trimmed black and white look a modern ’80s feel.
