Berlin, March 2 (BNA): Borussia Dortmund’s perfect record this year faces a major test when former coach Marco Rose returned with RB Leipzig on Friday.
Dortmund are looking to extend their winning run to 10 matches in all competitions this year. It already has the best record of any team in Europe’s top five leagues in 2023.
Another victory over Leipzig would raise its tally to the top of the Bundesliga by three points before 10-time champions Bayern Munich visit relegation-threatened Stuttgart on Saturday. Bayern leads Dortmund on goal difference.
But Leipzig showed they can compete with the best by drawing 1-1 with Bayern in their first match after the winter break. Rose’s side have only lost once since then, 2-1 at home to in-form Union Berlin.
At this stage in the league last year, Rose was still in charge at Dortmund. His team got the same number of points (46), but it was six points behind Bayern.
