Casemiro sent off again, Man United held 0-0 by Southampton

London, March 12 (BNA): Manchester United held their ground after Casemiro’s second red card in his last three Premier League games secured a goalless draw with bottom-placed Southampton on Sunday.

The Brazilian midfielder was sent off in the 34th minute of the game after making a challenge on Carlos Alcaraz, which initially earned him a yellow card.

The referee changed it to red after the video assistant referee advised him to look at the incident again on the stadium screen, according to the Associated Press.

Casemiro must now serve a four-match ban, given that this was his second dismissal of the season. The other was at Crystal Palace on February 4.

Southampton had better chances in Casemiro’s absence, scoring twice through James Ward-Prowse – from a superb free kick – and Kyle Walker-Peters and seeing United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka clear the ball off the line.

In return, Bruno Fernandes hit a long-range shot which was sent in by Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazuno.
