Capturing culture through a modern lens, Bahrain celebrates Khaleeji Youth Day 2022

Manama, June 7 (BNA) Bahrain celebrates youth through lenses and angles, as Bahrain honors its talents by highlighting the most prominent photographers in the country as they spread their unique visions and artistic views in celebration of the first session of the Gulf Youth Day 2022.

The Gulf Youth Day was celebrated in cooperation with the Arts Center and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, with photos submitted from all over Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman.

The exhibition was held under the patronage of the Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hope Fund, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Khalifa. Moayad, who viewed the displayed photos, is from Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

“It gives me great pleasure to participate in the exhibition today and I believe that photography has a huge platform of followers in Bahrain and the Gulf region,” Sheikha Hala said.

“The Arts Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, has put together a wonderful exhibition showcasing different forms of photography from the GCC, I am very proud of the Bahraini group presented, we have various local photographers with strong statements to share with an audience.”

Each image presented a unique message that was interpreted through different colours, angles, and shades. The Bahraini Photography Group presented powerful messages that embody the future of youth with the influence of Bahraini culture.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate youth with this annual experience and my own work represents Bahrain’s youth in a completely different light as I combined the Bahrain Youth banner and skateboarding to symbolize freedom, and the street name perfectly captures Bahraini youth,” said photographer Ishaq Madan.

The exhibition presented the vision of each female photographer while they shared the message of empowering youth, and the Bahraini participation, Enas Al-Sistani, represented the strength of the Bahraini woman through her exceptional vision, as she combined modernity and the authenticity of the Bahraini female character.

“My work represents Bahraini women and shows their ability to achieve a lot over the years by overcoming various challenges and difficulties. I wanted to introduce Bahraini youth and women by combining traditional and modern aspects,” Enas said.

The deeply rooted Gulf culture, communities and traditions have been greatly celebrated and addressed through photographs as they represent the proud origin of each community and its empowering cultural essence captured through their lenses by a wide range of talented photographers, in celebration of Gulf Youth Day each year. A year with a booming artwork to come.

The exhibition will run until June 11 from 9 am to 8 pm at the Art Center.
