Canadiens beat Predators 4-3 after honoring Subban

MONTREAL, Jan. 13 (BNA): Cole Cofield scored twice on a power play as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 after honoring former defenseman BK Subban in a pregame ceremony.

Kirby Dash added a goal and an assist for Montreal, Jake Evans also scored and Jonathan Drouin made three assists. Samuel Montembolt stopped 39 shots.

Nino Niedreiter, Philipp Forsberg and Jozo Parsinen scored for Nashville. Yaroslav Askarov made 31 saves in his NHL debut.

Midway through the second period, Nick Suzuki crossed Cofield for a goal that gave Montreal a 3-2 lead. Coffield struck again at 6:15 of the third, scoring on a run off a pass by Dach.

The Predators pulled Askrov off with less than three minutes left in the game, and Parsenin scored with 1:29 on a slap shot.

Nashville coach John Heinz said his team put in “40 minutes” of effort starting in the second half.
