Burnley snatches 1-1 draw at Chelsea on late goal

London, November 6 (BUS) – Mate Vedra hit a late kick to win the volatile Chelsea and draw Burnley 1-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Czech Republic striker Fedra came off the bench to secure Clarett’s only chance at Stamford Bridge, and ruled out Kai Havertz’s goal in the 33rd minute that seemed to put the league leaders on their way to a fifth successive title.

Chelsea dominated the game for only 75 minutes for a short spell in focus and intensity to cost them two points, according to The Associated Press.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will still spend the weekend at the top of the Premier League, but Liverpool will have the opportunity to cut the difference to one point with a win over West Ham on Sunday.

Chelsea stormed Burnley without delay from the start. Callum Hudson-Odoi saw a low-profile tackled by Nick Pope and could only shoot wide.

Reece James had a shot that topped, then Andreas Christensen’s long header from one corner and Antonio Rudiger crossed the crossbar from another angle.

Burnley could barely cope with the opening nine-minute attack, but somehow held up without conceding a half-hour goal.

Havertz had been crammed into the crowd by Matt Lawton and could barely dust himself off when the best first-half chance on a platter was handed to him.

James’s perfect inch cross begged to be buried, and the Germany striker delivered in normally unfazed fashion, heading into the opener.

It was Havertz’s second goal in the league this season while James provided his third assist of the season, adding to his four goals, amid another impressive performance.

Chelsea maintained control after the break, as Thiago Silva was cruising outside from the post, while Havertz crossed a Hudson-Odoi cross.

Hudson-Odoi then saw a blistering effort veered to safety off the line by both Bob and Luton as Chelsea repeatedly pressed to improve their lead.

Chelsea lost momentum before the job was done and Burnley pounced clinically.

Vedra smashed the net with a header back across the penalty area, tying the match 1-1 with just over 10 minutes to play.

Tuchel sent out Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic to try to get a late winner, but to no avail.
