BTEA launches guided biweekly tours in Souq Al Manama

Manama, May 24 (BNA) The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) said that a guided tour will be launched at the Manama Souq, where residents and tourists can explore the region’s history and heritage.

The tours will provide a unique experience to learn about the importance of the Manama Souq in the region and its multicultural communities over the years.

The authority said that all tours will be conducted by licensed tour guides and will start in the Bab Al Bahrain area.

The trips, one focusing on the attractions of the Manama Souq and the other on the region’s food diversity, will begin on May 26 and will take place on Saturdays and Wednesdays each week. It can be easily booked through the authority’s website.

The CEO of BTEA, Dr. Nasser Qaidi, said that the tours of the Manama Souq are an offer to ensure that tourists visiting Bahrain return home with a unique experience.

He added that the tours are also an opportunity to re-engage the locals and residents by educating them about the history of the market, which has long been a symbol of coexistence in the area.

Qaidi said that the launch of the tours, in cooperation with the Manama Story, shows that the Bahrain Tourism and Travel Authority prioritizes the development of the Manama market and its tourism and commercial revitalization.


He said, “These tours are part of a program full of events, details of which will be announced later by the authority, making 2022 exceptional for the Bahraini tourism sector.”
