London, September 28 (BNA): Brighton and Hove Albion failed in their attempt to win the Premier League title on Monday, although they drew 1-1 with arch-rivals Crystal Palace with a stoppage-time equalizer through Neil Maupay. In Selhurst Park.
The victory would have seen Brighton reach the top of the Premier League for the first time in their 120-year history, but they were seconds away from defeat after Palace took the lead with Wilfried Zaha’s penalty at the end of the first half, Reuters reported.
With Palace fans already celebrating in injury time, Palace keeper Vicente Guaita rebounded to Maupai Road which ended the ball with a masterful shot.
While the point wasn’t enough to lift Brighton to the top, their fans were ecstatic as the final whistle blew, seconds after Maupai’s equaliser.
Brighton remained in sixth place with 13 points, one point behind leaders Liverpool, while Palace is 15th with six points.
