BJA participates in IFJ’s congress; voices solidarity with Yemeni journalists sentenced to death

Muscat, June 2, (BNA) A delegation from the Bahrain Journalists Association participated in the 31st International Conference of the International Federation of Journalists (the 31st Conference).


350 media professionals from 120 countries participated in the event, organized by the Omani Journalists Association under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation and the Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said.


On the sidelines of the 30th Conference of the International Federation of Journalists, the delegation of the Jordan Journalists Syndicate signed a petition in solidarity with the journalists sentenced to death in Yemen.


The Specialized Criminal Court in Sana’a issued a death sentence for several journalists on charges of “treason and publishing news that serves the aggressors and disturbs the peace of the nation.” However, the only crime the defendants committed was practicing their profession as journalists.
