BJA Chairman hails royal support to press and journalists

Manama, May 2 (BNA): It celebrates once again the achievements and progress of Bahraini journalists, next Sunday, May 7, on Bahrain Press Day.

Today, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa announced, in appreciation of the role and contributions of the press in the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom.

Issa Al-Shayji, Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association, expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the King for his continued support of the press in Bahrain and his directives to issue an advanced press law.

Al-Shayji said that His Majesty’s support paved the way for Bahraini journalists to work without restrictions on expression or freedom.

Al-Shayji also conveyed the appreciation of journalists in Bahrain to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his constant interest in the topics covered by the local press, based on his constant keenness to ensure the access of the press. She plays her role freely and responsibly.

The President of the Journalists Syndicate also expressed his thanks to His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, for supporting the local press in overcoming many challenges it has faced recently, which strengthens its role as a partner in the development process led by His Majesty the King.

Al-Shayji pointed out that journalism everywhere in the world faces challenges that require joint action and unified efforts.

He called for speeding up the issuance of the new press law, expressing his thanks to Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Information, and the House of Representatives for their cooperation in this regard.

Al-Shayji congratulated the journalists in Bahrain, thanking them for their dedication and outstanding efforts.

Bahrain Press Day is observed shortly after World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated internationally on May 3 every year.
