Manama, June 6 (BNA): In celebration of Global Arts Education Week, the International Baccalaureate Program (IBDP) at Brittus International School (BISBH) held its first art exhibition “Visual Arts for the 21st Century (Cultural Competence, Creativity and Competitive Environment)”.

The exhibition marks the culmination of the eleventh and twelfth graders in the field of visual arts as they showcased their creative works ranging from 2D and 3D art forms to digital works and installations.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by guest speaker Farah Mohammed Matar, Director of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA).

“The essential role of art acquisition in education cannot be denied, it is a fundamental dimension for a person to be a valuable individual, as this unique talent must always thrive,” said Farah.

Twelve IB students submitted their entries made up of personally chosen topics from different aspects of life and social issues such as mental health, beauty, people, their nature and their imaginations.

“I have never thought that I will have the ability to draw or draw in my life, and I always seek inspiration from other artists,” said Haider Al-Saffar, an associate student.

“And I always strive to inspire people with my art. Joining the IBDP made me discover my hidden talent as an artist.”

The IBDP introduced the importance of the educational entity as a whole in allowing students with outstanding talent to grow and discover more of their passion for the arts while sharing them with the public.

“This exhibition is in line with the IB Diploma Course and Visual Arts as the theme for this exhibition,” IB Visual Arts Instructor Jesús Tejada.

“We do not define beauty in these works because IB does not believe in the concept of beauty; we define beauty through process, inspiration, and knowledge of theories.”

The exhibition will be held until June 9 in the auditorium of the BISBH International School IB / IG at 10 am and the reception is 3 pm.
