California Jan. 15 (US): US President Joe Biden approved a declaration of emergency for California on Saturday, as storms have battered the golden state since December.
Reuters reported that 26 killed at least 19 people and brought flooding, power outages, mudslides, evacuations and road closures.
The White House said in a statement that Biden has ordered federal aid to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in areas affected by severe winter storms, floods, landslides and mudslides.
She added that the president’s action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Merced, Sacramento and Santa Cruz counties.
