BIC crowns 2022/2023 champions of Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge at BIKC

Manama, March 20 (BNA): The 2022/2023 Bahrain Rotax Maxx (BRMC) race champion was crowned during the post-season weekend at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC), the global popular motorsport. The facility is located at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.


Ali Almoayyed, Nasser Nass, Luca Hutton, Fahad Alkhaled and Omar Aldayrian emerged as winners in their respective classes at the end of a fiercely contested campaign that included eight thrilling rounds.


Ali and Al-Adrian headed to the curtain having already captured their titles in the Micro MAX and DD2 MAX classes, respectively. They are joined on the list of 2022/2023 champions Nasser in the Mini Max, Luca in the Junior Max and Al Khaled in the Senior Max.


In BIKC’s final round of action of the weekend, Adam Awan was the winner in the Micro MAX final, finishing the nine-lap race in a time of nine minutes, 45.815 seconds. He was ahead of runner-up Ryan Najjar, and also ranked the pair in the same order during the semi-finals.


After the result, Adam finished just one point behind Micro MAX champion Ali in the standings. Ali, who did not compete in the final, with 213 points, was in first place, followed closely by Adam, while Tariq Sofi came in third place, with 57 points.


In the Mini Max game, Sheikh Rashid bin Salman Al Khalifa ranked first in the provisional classification of the final out of nine rounds. Sheikh Rashid prevailed in 9:17.591, with Aryan Singh coming in second and Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Khalifa in third.

The semi-final stage saw Nasser take first place ahead of Sheikh Rashid, earning him important points in the Mini Max Championship. Thus, he ended the season with 215 points on the table provisionally, followed by Sheikh Ahmed with 197 points and Shonal Kunimal in third place with 175 points.


Luka capped off his Junior MAX title winning campaign in style, carrying the checkered flag in both the semifinals and finals. His victory in the final came after 15 laps in a time of 13:43.235. Luca was 3.127 seconds ahead of Mohammed Al-Hassan, while Saqr Al-Mushirji was third at 6.070 seconds.


Luke’s wins helped him improve to 218 points to finish the season 17th ahead of Gracie Grantham, who was fifth in the final. Al-Hassan came third on the table with 200 points.


The Senior MAX saw Jasper Sjoberg take on the final after finishing just short of Lewis Smith. Sjoberg won with a time of 13:55.328 after 15 laps 3.766 seconds in front of Smith, while Tijl Josep Huisman completed the podium lead of 4.352 seconds in third place.


Al-Khalid, ranked fourth in the final, scored enough points to clinch the category title with 183 in the standings. Muhammad Wali came in second place with 172 points, and Lin Al-Arifi came third with 165 points. Al-Arifi had earlier won the semi-final match in the round.


In the DD2 MAX tournament standings, Alderayan finished with 213 points in first place, followed by Abdullah Javed with 174 points and Talal Al-Attas and Ahmed Al-Saleh tied with 54 marks.

Of the winning entrants in the 2022/2023 BRMC season, Braga Middle East Racing and Forza Bahrain Racing won two titles each, with North Star Racing winning the other.


Praga was victorious in the Mini MAX and Junior MAX classes, while Forza won the Senior MAX and DD2 classes. NorthStar was first in the Micro MAX class.


Nearly 50 of the kingdom’s top karting talents competed in the five Rotax MAX classes at the BRMC’s eighth and final meeting. All races took place along the 1.414 kilometer CIK-FIA track.


After the event, the podium ceremony concluded the proceedings, which were attended by officials from BIC, BIKC, Bahrain Motor Federation and Bahrain Karting Committee.
