Alba’s Block 4 Project: Procurement and foundation works for main equipment completed

Manama, March 20 (BNA): Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest aluminum smelter outside of China, today announced that the Block 4 (PS5) Power Plant Project is on schedule.


The Block 4 Project’s Mitsubishi Power & SEPCOIII consortium has completed the procurement of the project’s main equipment – M701 JAC gas turbines, steam turbines and turbine generators as well as 50% of the manufacturing process for the same equipment. Moreover, all civil piling works for the main equipment of the Block 4 project have also been completed by the end of February 2023.


Commenting on the occasion, Alba’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, said:

“The Alba Block 4 project is starting to take shape with the early stages being completed on schedule; allowing us to prepare for the main activities on site.


We look forward to the safe delivery of Block 4, a key project under Alba’s ESG roadmap, on schedule and as planned by Q4 2024.”

Alba is also pleased to announce that all milestones have been achieved safely with the Block 4 project logging 331,723 million hours without a single lost-time injury (LTI) as of March 19, 2023.
