BIBF launches SCR Certificate Exam preparatory program

Manama, April 11 (BNA): The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) announced the launch of its new training program developed to prepare students for the Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) certification exam, offered by the World Association of Higher Education Institutions. Risk Specialists (GARP).

The SCR certification from GARP aims to provide knowledge and skills that will enable candidates to recognize climate-driven threats, lead climate risk initiatives, and drive sustainability goals within their organization.

The program also provides participants with an understanding of legal frameworks and reporting requirements related to sustainability and climate change risks. With an increased focus on sustainability and climate change risks in the financial industry, this program is a critical step in building the expertise and capabilities needed to deal with these issues.

“The SCR exam preparation program will cover a number of topics such as climate change, sustainable finance, and integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into risk management,” said Zeb Askar, Head of Banking and Finance Center at Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance.

“Designed for risk professionals, investment managers, and others in the financial industry who wish to expand their knowledge and expertise in the areas of sustainability and climate change risk, the program includes case studies, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises that align with the GARP’s SCR exam course.”

The growing interest in SCR certification around the world reflects the importance of building capacity on the risks and opportunities associated with sustainability and climate change at the individual and organizational level, said Michael Sell, GARP’s Global Business Development Head.

“We are delighted to add Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance to our network of SCR exam preparation providers who support candidates in their journey to complete the SCR certification,” added Seal.

The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization focused on raising the standard of risk management practice. GARP offers a globally recognized Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) certification, and continuing educational opportunities through continuing professional development.
