Barcelona and Wolfsburg meet in Women’s Champions League final

Eindhoven, June 2 (BNA): Both teams in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final have something to prove.

Barcelona were looking to win back-to-back titles last year before Lyon turned them on their heads. Two-time champions Wolfsburg have lost the last three times to get this far. The two teams will meet on Saturday at the PSV stadium in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.

It is Barcelona’s third consecutive final and fourth in the past five years. The Catalan club defeated Chelsea 4-0 in 2021 to become the first Spanish team to win the title, according to the Associated Press.

The PSV stadium is sold out, although it only has a capacity of 34,100. It should set a Dutch women’s match record capacity of 30,640 at the same venue in 2019 when the national team hosted Australia.

A good indicator of the health of women’s football clubs is that both teams have dedicated over 4,500 fans to their fans. This is “much more than ever,” said Nadine Kessler, UEFA Women’s Director of Football.
