Barcelona and Man City draw in friendly to help fight ALS

Barcelona, ​​August 25 (BUS): Barcelona and Manchester City tied 3-3 in a friendly match to raise funds and awareness to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.


More than 91,000 fans were at the Camp Nou for the match, the proceeds of which will help raise money for research against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, an incurable neurodegenerative disorder, the AP reports.


The honorary match was carried out by Juan Carlos Unzue, the former Barcelona goalkeeper and goalkeeper coach who fell ill and helped promote the friendly match.


“We want to continue living and enjoying life,” he said before the match.


Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay scored the goals for the hosts. Man City got goals from Julian Alvarez, Cole Palmer and Riyad Mahrez in stoppage time.


Man City defender Luke Mbete was forced to be substituted late in the game after a head-on clash with Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen. Mbete had to be immobilized and carried on a stretcher.
