Nyon, November 7 (BNA): Barcelona and Manchester United will meet in the Europa League play-off for a place in the round of 16 of the tournament.
The 2017 European Champions Barcelona met twice in the 2009 and 2011 UEFA Champions League Final, winning both times, while United lost both legs in the 2018-19 European Cup quarter-final encounter between the duo.
United finished second in their Europa League group this season behind another Spanish team – Real Sociedad – and meet Barcelona, who missed out on the Champions League last 16 after finishing third in their group behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, Reuters reported.
The eight European League group runners-up face eight third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage, and the play-off winners advance to the Round of 16.
Among other confrontations, six-times champion Sevilla will face the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, while Juventus will meet Nantes in the French first division, while Jose Mourinho’s Roma will face Salzburg.
The first matches of the tournament will be held on February 16, with the return match coming a week later on February 23.
