Bahrain’s top karters set for Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge season-opener on Saturday at BIKC

Manama, November 2 (BNA): The national karting season is set to kick off next weekend as the first round of the 2022/2023 Bahrain Rotax Max Championship (BRMC) to be held at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC). A world-class facility for popular motorsports at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The BRMC Championship is the main tournament for the local karting campaign in Bahrain, and it follows the recently completed Sakhir Rotax Max Challenge.


Saturday’s season opener (Editor’s note: November 5) will be the first of eight great action rounds, scheduled to run through March of next year.


BRMC will feature the Kingdom’s best quarter in which they will compete in five categories as individual entrants and teams. Categories include Micro MAX, Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX and DD2. Each participant will be seated behind the wheel of their Rotax-powered kart.


Competitors will take to the CIK-FIA’s 1,414 km BIKC circuit from morning until mid-afternoon. The event is scheduled to begin with qualifying practice from 11am. Preliminaries are scheduled from 12.08 p.m., which will determine the finals grid starting at 1.56 p.m.


The Micro MAX and Mini MAX classes will run together in nine-lap finals, while the Junior MAX, Senior MAX and DD2 classes will each have separate 15-lap finals.


Everyone is invited to attend today’s events. Entry to BIKC is free.


33 riders will face a stack in the first round of BRMC.

In the Micro MAX class, the trio of Ali Almoayyed, Nasser Nass and Mohamed Walid will compete for glory. It will include the Mini Max Quartet category, consisting of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Khalifa, Issa Al Moayyed, Yousef Al Ghaith and Shonal Konal.

The Junior MAX and Senior MAX categories have the largest number of entries. Junior Max will see Luca Houghton, Abdelkader Kassem, Tai Mejia, Charlie Godard, Saqr Al-Mishherji, Khaled Najjar, Youssef Al-Alali, Gracie Grantham, Mohamed Al-Hassan, Jaber Al-Sabah, Massad Al-Bassam, Vidant Menon and Shantosh Kumar hitting the runway.


Among the senior program participants are Max Louis Smith, Sheikha Haya bint Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Muhammad Wali, Oliver Krugluff, Tegel Joip Huisman, Nagashi Rashdan, Lyn Al Arifi, Talal Al Attas, Ahmed Al Muslim, Abdullah Javid and Ahmed Kashwa.


The field was rounded up by Ahmed Al-Saleh and Omar Al-Dairian in the DD2 category.


The stadiums represent some of the best karting teams in the Gulf, including Berel ART Bahrain, Praga Middle East Racing, Forza Bahrain Racing, NorthStar Racing and Accelerate Motorsport.


After the tournament opens this week, the second and third rounds will take place on consecutive days on December 9 and 10.


Rounds four and five after that will see the first races of the new calendar year at BIKC on January 13 and 14. The excitement will continue to rage when Rounds Six and Seven kick off in the desert on February 10-11. This will set the stage for the end of the season on March 17th to celebrate the end of another great national karting campaign.


The race is organized by BIKC in association with BIC, the Bahrain Motor Federation and Motorsport Marshals Club.
