Manama, Mar. 19 (BNA): The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer, attended the ceremony honoring the participants in the Training of Trainers Program 2023. The Regional Center for Excellence and Capacity Building to Combat Human Trafficking, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.
The event was held over 5 working days (from March 12 to 16, 2023), and representatives from 6 different sectors participated in it: criminal justice, public security, medical care, media, airports and ports, and inspection officers in various ministries and relevant government agencies. .
The program, which is supervised by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), is the first basic course organized by the center in Arabic. 27 trainees were trained in identifying and responding to cases of trafficking in persons, key concepts and prevailing patterns, legal frameworks, trauma, abuse and trafficking victims, identification and triage of victims, first aid, as well as working with interpreters.
During the ceremony, Jamsheer affirmed the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to developing national cadres and raising their capabilities and skills in the field of identifying the crime of human trafficking and mechanisms to assist victims and prevent them from becoming potential victims, in addition to supporting them. The efforts of the international community to address this transnational crime.
She pointed out that the crime of human trafficking is one of the most sensitive and major global issues, whose mechanisms and forms are constantly evolving, and that requires addressing them with exceptional effort and high skills. She added that the Kingdom of Bahrain has strengthened the infrastructure of the work environment and efforts to combat all forms of human trafficking and exploitation.
In presenting the extensive efforts that have been made in this regard, Jamsheer explained that the Kingdom was keen to build an integrated prevention and protection system that includes enhancing the skills of first responders to identify and refine victims of human trafficking or potential victims. Skills, through the implementation of multiple training programs organized by the Regional Center for Excellence and Capacity Building of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to combat human trafficking in cooperation with international organizations and United Nations organizations, most notably the International Organization for Migration.
In this regard, the CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority indicated that qualifying the trainers to become supporters of the government’s efforts and ambassadors to spread the culture of combating human trafficking is an integral part of these efforts.
It is noteworthy that the Regional Center of Excellence, which is the first regional house of expertise and training in the field of combating human trafficking in the region, works to provide a group of certified trainers who are practitioners and front-line workers in the field of training. in combating human trafficking. Procedures are provided that take into account the psychology of the victim, and appropriate interventions, in addition to work on building the capacities of target groups from various fields of first responders who may deal with victims of human trafficking or potential victims, in cooperation with a number of experts, specialists and practitioners in this field.
The Training of Trainers program is one of the specialized programs of the center, and it aims to develop and provide training programs that suit the demographic, economic and social fabric.
