Bahrain’s success in promoting civil state, democracy stressed

Manama, September 14 (BNA) The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Counselor Rashid Mohammed, affirmed the star of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s success in advancing the civil state, strengthening democracy and human rights, promoting moderation, tolerance and coexistence, and strengthening political action in the country. His Majesty the King’s comprehensive development project, especially with regard to the promotion of democracy and the implementation of the National Action Charter and the Constitution related to the protection of human rights and freedoms.

In celebration of International Day of Democracy, which the United Nations celebrates on September 15, Chancellor Najma was proud of Bahrain’s democratic strides and its pioneering parliamentary experience. He pointed out that the Kingdom is moving towards a new electoral right at the parliamentary and municipal levels, which is the sixth under the 2002 constitution. He called on everyone to ensure full readiness to achieve more achievements, praising the royal decree setting dates for elections and nomination for membership in the House of Representatives.

The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives affirmed that the legislative authority has contributed during the past twenty years to consolidating the principles of democracy and human rights, and to the success of the development project of His Majesty the King through the continuous modernization of the legislative system. He pointed out that the Kingdom has become a model in protecting human rights and freedoms, stressing that it has rich parliamentary and democratic experience in the region and the world at large.
