During the month of December, the Bahrain Pavilion at the Expo opened its second theme “Weaving Innovation”, transforming the main pavilion area into a theater displaying a number of physical and interactive exhibits that provide visitors with a first-hand look at the innovative technologies used in the manufacture of woven composite materials such as carbon fibres, and the common gestures and crafts that He connects these techniques with ancient weaving methods.

During this exhibition, visitors will discover the partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and McLaren, as the exhibition showcases McLaren’s longstanding knowledge and use of carbon fiber technology, which culminated in the launch of their latest “Artura” vehicle that uses lightweight carbon fiber and electric engineering. The progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of carbon fiber manufacturing and the ability to form a strong partnership with one of the most important automobile companies in the world is made possible through the work of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company “Mumtalakat”, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mumtalakat completed its first international investment in 2007, taking a majority stake in McLaren and thus committed to supporting the growth of the company, which was first established in 1963.

A special collaboration between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, and Al Zain Jewellers, one of Bahrain’s most famous jewelers, reinterprets traditional koarar weaving into 21 karat gold jewelry and embellishments. The Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at Expo 2020 is entitled “Opportunity Weaves Density”. The structure of this central space consists of 126 columns, 11 cm thick and 24 meters high.
