Bahraini athlete shines in Houston marathon

Manama, Jan. 23 (BNA) A Bahraini athlete excelled in the marathon race that was held recently in Houston, USA.

Abdi Ibrahim Abdo finished second, with a distance of 42 kilometers in 2 hours 11 minutes and 11 seconds, 8 seconds ahead of Kenyan James Ngandu, who clocked 2 hours 11 minutes 3 seconds.

Elisha, another Kenyan athlete, booked a podium place after finishing third, running the marathon in 2:11:16.

This is the first time Abdi Ibrahim Abdo has run the 42 km Houston Marathon at the start of the new season.

He achieved his personal best time at the 2018 Rome Marathon by finishing the race in 2:08:32 hours.

He had previously won the 2017 China Marathon by taking first place in the race at Palmer Bucky, clocking 2:12:00
