Bahrain wins WHO’s World No Tobacco Day 2022 Award

Manama, May 27 (BNA) The Bahraini National Committee for Combating Smoking and all types of tobacco and its products won the World No Tobacco Day 2022 award from the World Health Organization during its 75th session.The tenth The United Nations General Assembly convened in Geneva from May 22 to 28, in recognition of its achievements in tobacco control.


On this occasion, Minister of Health Faeq bint Saeed Al Saleh expressed her sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister for each of them. Unlimited support for the health sector, contributing to the Kingdom’s success in achieving countless achievements, and gaining global fame.


The award is given on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2022, which is celebrated on May 31, under the motto “Tobacco threatens our environment”.


In this regard, the Minister affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue its efforts to combat smoking and reduce its risks, as evidenced by the establishment of the National Committee for Combating Smoking and all its types and products, which includes members from various public and private institutions.
