Bahrain to mark International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Manama, June 25 (BNA) Bahrain joins the international community in celebrating the International Day to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is celebrated around the world on June 26, under the slogan “Sharing drug facts and saving lives.”

The celebration will witness many educational and awareness-raising events and activities, including lectures and events aimed at educating young people about the dangers of this scourge, within the framework of the family, educational and social institutions.

The Ministry seeks to make qualitative efforts, develop proactive plans, and launch awareness programs to reduce drug abuse.

Measures have also been taken to control the distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances within health institutions, implement awareness and preventive programs to curb drug abuse and trafficking, and publicize their harm to school and university students and youth clubs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other relevant bodies.

The Kingdom’s participation in the International Day to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking aims to raise awareness of the community about the importance of combating and addressing narcotics and psychotropic substances to ensure that society is free of this scourge, and to enhance social responsibility, such as combating narcotics and psychotropic substances. Drugs require the solidarity of all within the framework of an integrated system of community partnership.
