Bahrain to commemorate World Space Week

Manama, October 3 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain joins the United Nations in celebrating World Space Week, which begins on October 4. The celebration comes within the framework of the development vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Khalifa to enhance the Kingdom’s position among the advanced countries in the field of space and invest in future sciences to serve the comprehensive sustainable development process.

The celebration comes in response to General Assembly Resolution 54/68, issued on December 6, 1999, to highlight the contributions of space science and technology to improving human conditions. This year’s event focuses on the theme of “Women in Space” and the role of women in space science, innovation and exploration.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has made pioneering and rapid achievements in this regard since the establishment and organization of the National Space Science Authority (NSSA) by Decree-Law No. 11 of 2014 and its amendments. Since then, the Kingdom has continued its role in developing space sciences in partnership with national institutions, space agencies and international research centers.
