Bahrain sending message of peace, construction and development to world: Al Ansari

Manama, December 9 (BNA) The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari, received Dr. David Fernandez Boyana, Ambassador and Permanent Observer of the United Nations University for Peace to the United Nations and UNESCO.

He presented a presentation on cooperation opportunities that are of interest to the university to activate the role of women and enhance their contributions around the world as active agents in making societal peace as a first step within the educational process that leads to their participation in decision-making.

Al-Ansari stressed that Bahrain’s message to the world is one of peace, construction and development.

In this regard, the Kingdom seeks to implement what it pledged during the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 and the commitments contained in the Beijing Declaration and Plan of Action.

Assistant Secretary-General Sheikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa gave the UN official a presentation on the Bahraini model for equal opportunity applications and their impact on the reality of women in national development.

David Fernandez Boyana praised Bahrain’s achievements, development and capacity as a leading country and a center of expertise in women’s empowerment and gender balance in the Middle East and North Africa region and the world.

He attributed Bahrain’s success to the distinguished efforts made by the Supreme Council for Women headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, consort of His Majesty the King, since its establishment in 2001.
