The index, first published in July, rates 121 countries and territories in terms of recovering COVID-19 by calculating a score between 0 and 90 based on nine factors divided into three categories: infection management, vaccine release, and mobility.
The higher the ranking, the closer the country to recovery — with fewer infections, higher vaccination rates and less strict social distancing measures.
Bahrain scored 70% after the United Arab Emirates (74%), Chile (73%), Malta (70.5%) and the level with Saudi Arabia (70%). It is followed by Japan and Colombia with 69%.
On November 1, Bahrain’s Health Regulatory Authority said it had approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children in the age group of 5-11 years.
The decision follows a comprehensive evaluation of the data provided by Pfizer-BioNTech, which was conducted by the National Health Regulatory Authority’s Clinical Trials Committee and the Department of Health’s Immunization Committee.

Vaccine rollouts cover total vaccine doses given to an individual, new vaccine doses given to an individual, and the proportion of people fully vaccinated.
